Occasionally we will have to alter the regular Library/Media Center schedule. Changes will always be posted on the front doors.
ResourcesThe Library/Media Center offers an extensive collection (more than 10,000 items) of print and non-print resources including: books, magazines, newspapers, online reference sources, CD-ROMS, video tapes, art prints, and more. The Library/Media Center’s resources have been specifically selected to support the school’s instructional program. Because of that focus, we will usually have more resources on specific curriculum topics than a public library.
Copy MachineTwo copy machines are located in the Media Center for student use. The first 3 black and white pages are free. The cost per page for additional copies is 10¢. Color copies are 25¢ a page .
The high school library media program empowers all its students to become critical thinkers, life-long learners, and effective and ethical users and creators of information in a global community.
MissionIn order to achieve its vision, the school library media program will strive to accomplish the following:
promote an appreciation of literature and other media,
promote taking responsibility for both independent and collaborative learning,
provide access to all students and staff to a multiplicity of ideas and information, both locally and globally, through a variety of print and non-print resources and research tools,
teach information literacy skills (locating, collecting, organizing, interpreting and sharing information) which are most effectively learned in the context of subject area content,
develop skills in understanding, using, and producing media in various formats, and
embrace diversity in individuals and ideas.

The Media Center has 32 computers available for student and staff use. Two of these computers are connected to scanners and design software. Teachers plan and schedule with the Media Specialist for research units utilizing online references and other library materials. Teachers may schedule the use of computers for other than Media Center research activities on a daily/weekly basis.
